Walking as a Champion in Texas
Spanish exchange student's color guard team honored at Texas high school

Spaniard's color guard team outshines the competition

Belén had the uniquely exciting (and perhaps mortifying) experience of being celebrated at her high school’s Walk of Champions. The WOC runs through the main hallway of her high school and is led by the principal, passing by the school’s cheerleaders and other students as the band’s drumline brings up the rear. These walks are done in honor of student groups who make it to state-level competitions and are becoming a much-loved tradition.

Belén was a member of the 2021-2022 Color Guard and its 2022 JV Winter Guard Team; her team took second place at the Texas Color Guard Circuit’s Region A Championship competition in March. She is in the middle of this picture with her T-shirt tied at the waist.
