The Beginning of Something Special

If it’s the beginning of August, chances are that we are out on Long Island welcoming our first batch of excited exchange students to the PAX arrival orientation. This first chance for PAX staff (and also the PAX community) to officially meet the new class has been held at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY for around 20 years, and emotions are always running high. The most common include excitement, anxiousness, giddiness, and relief.

But don’t take our word for it. Before you dive into the issue, take a few moments to set the scene by watching two brief videos. The first is a mini-tour of the campus, including all of those gorgeous spots you’ve seen in student interviews over the years. The second considers the weight of all of the changes and challenges in store for our newly arrived students but wraps it in an easy enough question: “How are you feeling?”

One thing we made clear to our students last week is that we are feeling very excited to finally get a chance to meet them and that their host families and the wider PAX community is too! As always, we still have many great students like the ones featured in this issue for whom we are still looking for equally great American families. If you or a family you know are interested in learning more, give us a call at 800.555.6211 or send us a host family inquiry with just a few clicks.
