Thai leaning into first fall

Hi, my name is Aom. I am from Thailand. I am here in the United States as an exchange student for ten months. I have been here since August.

My host family and I live in Utah. They are so nice to me. I love them so much. We have done a lot of things here in just three months. I have had many new experiences here and I will not forget them. October is over, but it is still in my memory.

October is a month of changing seasons and Halloween. At first, I was surprised that people in America are so excited about Halloween. Stores started to sell Halloween stuff in early September!

My host family had many plans for October. It was my first time seeing the changing of leaves' color. It was gorgeous! We went up a mountain and the landscape was beautiful. I do not have any words to explain it. It was my first time touching snow, too. I love snow now. I wish there was snow in Thailand.

An important fall and Halloween activity is carving pumpkins. I picked my pumpkins by myself, painted them, and carved them. I love painting pumpkins, so I did my best and it turned out really good.

I also carved a cute pumpkin face and removed the bottom part so I could put it on my neck to cover my face like a jack-o-lantern. My friends also did it and then we went to a park and took a lot of pictures. It was so fun!

People were looking at us. It was a little bit embarrassing but also exciting. The pumpkin was heavier than I thought. I could not put it on my shoulder; I had to hold it all the time. We got a lot of good pictures and we had a great time!
