Michigan family off to great start

We are the Portman family from Michigan, and we host Pinny from Thailand. It has been an exciting and fun experience since day one. It all started when we picked Pinny up from the airport after a long flight from her homeland.

I carried her luggage to the vehicle, and when I asked why it was so heavy she laughed. When we got back to the house, she opened her suitcase and it was packed with Thai food. What a wonderful treat for the entire family!

Pinny’s first day at Cheboygan High School was also a great day. I traditionally take first-day-of-school pictures of our daughter, and it was nice to include Pinny for their senior year.

We are excited to show her the America we love!

Pinny has a great sense of humor and fits in so well with our family and friends. She has made many friends in the short time she has been here. She has already competed in her first American powderpuff football game. She played with the seniors against the juniors. Her team won 30-18; it was so exciting to watch. She had such a great time.

This coming weekend, we will be taking her to the local apple orchard. Then, the following weekend we will be taking her to the Harry Styles concert in Chicago. She is so excited about this. We are excited to show her the America we love! I had Pinny’s senior pictures professionally done. The sunset over the lake was so nice, and her pictures turned out fantastic.

I can’t wait for her reaction to snow, as she says the average temperature in Thailand in winter is around 70° Fahrenheit. I told her that she’ll experience temperatures below 0°. She said she will freeze!
