New York Blooms for Indonesian Student

Plus, Vidya finally gets her hands on "the infamous funnel cake."

It's Vidya, a YES exchange student from Indonesia. I'm currently enjoying the spring weather here in Rochester, New York. After the past few months of low temperatures and cold breezes, the high 70s and 80s on a sunny day are a welcome change. It makes me feel right in my element!

Rochester is also more colorful as the days go by. Splashes of green, red, purple, pink, and yellow catch your eye at every turn. I was fascinated by the growing leaves and all the different colors. It makes the place a lot more lively and welcoming.

Last weekend, my host family took me to the Rochester Lilac Flower Festival. It's an annual festival held in Rochester to celebrate spring and warm weather. I had so much fun! Although the lilacs haven't finished blooming yet, I got to see the tulips and blossoming trees such as the Japanese magnolia and cherry blossoms.

I also got to try the infamous funnel cake, which is like fried dough but way crispier. The weather was really nice and added to the wonderful sights and smells; it was a great experience!
