1st-time host mom looks back at year with Thai son

I want to tell you a little bit about our experience with our exchange student, Thitiwute "Web" from Thailand. We've had a lot of fun getting to know Web. Being in Michigan, he got to experience snow for the first time ever (and a LOT of it). We went snow tubing, and he enjoyed it even though it was cold.

Web has had several achievements during his time in the U.S. He made history as part of a brand new E-sports gaming club at our local high school, was featured in a newspaper article, and his team made the playoffs even though it was their very first year participating. He also decided to go to prom which was a huge step for someone who considers himself an introvert, and he had one of his artworks chosen to be displayed at an art exhibit in town.

While the school year is almost over, Web has maintained A’s in all of his classes for the school year and was recognized along with several other exchange students at the Three Rivers Rotary Club honors night. We are so proud of him.

Last, but not least, we experienced the annual tulip festival in Holland, Michigan. Web has formed a bond with his host sister as they share a lot of interests, including art and gaming. We will be sad to see him go, but we know Web has a great future ahead of him.
