My DECA Experience in Texas
Exchange student from Germany poses in front of DECA banner in Texas

Journey continues for German

Hello, my name is Lara. I'm a German exchange student currently staying in Texas.

I had the opportunity to participate in the Texas DECA Career Development Conference 2024 at the Houston Convention Center. The competition was three days long. The bustling energy of the event, coupled with the spirit of competition, created an atmosphere unlike any other.

From the moment I stepped into the venue and was greeted with the enthusiasm of thousands of other passionate students from all over Texas, I knew I was in for an unforgettable experience.

The time went by quickly, because there was always something exciting to do. During the time between competitions, there were activities like playing games with other participants or talking to people about different college opportunities.

As the competition drew to a close, anticipation filled the air as the results were announced. To my disbelief and immense joy, I was declared a winner in my category. The sense of accomplishment and pride that washed over me was unparalleled, knowing that my hard work and dedication had paid off.

It was a moment that I will cherish forever, a memory that symbolizes the transformative journey of my exchange year in Texas.

Winning at the Texas DECA State Competition not only served as a personal triumph but also as a testament to the power of perseverance and determination. It was a moment that I will cherish forever, a memory that symbolizes the transformative journey of my exchange year in Texas.

Through this win, I qualified to participate in the DECA International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California at the end of April. I can't wait to once again come together with other young people who share my passion for business not only to compete but also to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
