A Busy Start to a Washington Exchange Year

Plenty to do on the Puget Sound
Hello. My name is Cheri, and Carla is our exchange student from Germany. She is 15 years old. My kids are 16 and 18. This is the first time we have hosted an exchange student and we couldn't be happier. We were able to chat for a few months via WhatsApp before she arrived. I knew we were going to get along great, but it’s even better than we hoped.
We get along like a close family. Carla is so adventurous and is willing to try any food (as long as it's vegetarian) or any activity. Carla's first day here we went to the beach and showed her Puget Sound.
We have been busy. We went sunflower and blueberry picking, took a bike ride to a nearby coffee shop, took a ferry ride to go to the Olympic Game Farm and fed animals from the car, and went to Pike Place Market in Seattle followed by pedicures. We went to Leavenworth where we ate German food, had a horse and carriage ride, and did old fashioned photos. We went swimming with a friend who has two exchange students. We had S’mores with a nearby family that has an exchange student. And that’s just a few of the things we have done so far!
